Georgia Sanford Allred, 73, resident of the Keownville Community and retired furniture manufacturing supervisor , passed away peacefully Tuesday evening October 9, 2018 in the comfort of her home following an extended illness.
Funeral Services cherishing the life of Mrs. Allred will be at 11 AM Saturday October 13 in The Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care with Bro. Harvey Scott officiating. A private family burial is planned.
Born October 28, 1944 in Union County, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Modell Duncan Sanford. Mrs. Allred was a graduate of East Union High School and was married August 28, 1963 to her beloved husband, James Edgar Allred, a retired self-employed Union County roofing contracting who survives.
A Christian of the Baptist faith, Mrs. Allred was employed as a supervisor for the Benchcraft Corporation for 20 years before her retirement. A lifelong resident of Union County, she was a devoted mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother and dedicated caregiver for others. In earlier years, she enjoyed little league games with her sons and will be remembered for her great cooking skills. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Visitation for Mrs. Allred will be Friday October 12 from 5 PM to 8 PM and will continue Saturday until service time at New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care located at 608 W Bankhead at the Hwy 30 intersection.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, those left to treasure her memory include three sons, James Michael Allred (Cindy) of Martintown, Stephen Craig Allred (Stephanie) of Keownville and Bradley Dale Allred (Tammie) of Bethlehem, four sisters, Brenda Kay Bullock (Lannia) of Mt. Zion, Betty Lynn Hall (Leon), Mackie Spencer and Phyllis Hill all of Keownville, one brother, Bruce Sanford (Shirley) of Keownville, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister in law, Nelta Sanford.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Forrester and two brothers, Richard and J.W. Sanford.
