James W.T. Weeden, 58, longtime resident of Pontotoc and Union Counties, departed this life on Friday, May 17, 2019 in the comfort of his home near Ecru following an extended illness.
Services honoring the life of James will be at 3PM Wednesday, May 22 in The Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care located at the intersection of HWY 30 and Bankhead Street. Private family burial will be at Christian Rest Cemetery in Lafayette County.
Born May 9, 1961, James was one of six children born to the late Marvin and Martha Watson Weeden. He received his education in the Lafayette County School System and was a self-employed mechanic for much of his life.
A Christian, he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and brother who was a friend to many. James possessed a life- long love of quarter horses which included two special horses, Tag and Apache. Pleasure riding and dirt track racing were favorite pastimes.
Visitation will be today from 1 PM to 3 PM at New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care.
He leaves his children, Rebecca Bolen of Thaxton, Amanda Burk (Randal Conlee) of Ecru, four sisters, Ann Weeden of Southhaven, Rejenna Cheney (Gary) of New Albany, Mechelle Mayo (TJ) of Tupelo, and Melonia Howard (Micheal) of New Albany, one brother, Bill Weeden (Nell) of New Albany and his ten grandchildren.
