Marcell "Myra" Martin Obituary

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, Marcell "Myra" Martin, 90, resident of New Albany and former resident of Searcy AR, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, following a brief illness.

A memorial service will be held at a later date by her children and will be announced when the arrangements are complete.

Born April 17, 1933, in Black Oak, AR, Myra was the daughter of the late Robert and Zola Lentz Meurer.  She received her education from Harding Academy in Searcy and later in life became a licensed Real Estate Agent.

A lifelong Christian and faithful member of the Church of Christ, Myra was very active in her younger years and was involved in teaching a ladies bible class and many other activities.  Being the loving mother she was, Myra believed in her children having the same Christian education and values that were given to her at Harding Academy.  She was an excellent caregiver to her mother, aunt, sisters, brothers and a special nephew.  Myra was quirky in her own way.  You didn't have to worry what she was thinking, she would let you know.  Whenever someone asked how she was feeling her answer would be, "if I was feeling any better, nobody could stand me!"  Her favorite past times include fishing, making her own hummingbird food for her many hummingbirds, raking the leaves, tending her flowers and sweeping her porches and garage on a daily basis.  Myra will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially the ones that called her "Granny."

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Kim Bodie (John), one son, Billy Martin, one sister, Linda Jones, one brother, Bobby Meurer (Naomi), five grandchildren, Mike and Tom Ausbrooks (Briana), Robert Martin, Rachel Stone (Lee) and Jade Blair McGraw, six great grandchildren, Sam, Elizabeth and William Ausbrooks, Joshua Martin, A.J. Ausbrooks, and Townsend McGraw, and one great great granddaughter, Samantha Ausbrooks, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, along with her parents, was three sisters, Pat Moss, Jan Leavitt and Dee Dahnke, three brothers, Elbert, Jerry and Mack Meurer and one daughter in law, Charlotte Martin.
