Our loving mother and friend, Susan Hickle Cook, 74, resident of New Albany, departed this life on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany following an extended illness.
A service remembering the life of Ms. Cook will be in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care at 4 PM Thursday, January 31, 2019 with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating.
Ms. Cook was born on January, 24, 1945 in Long Beach, California,the only child of the late Richard and Leola Vallier Hickle. She received her education in the California public school system and moved to New Albany nineteen years ago to be near her family. A homemaker throughout her life, Ms. Cook was employed as a dispatcher for the Benton County Sherriff's Department and as a sales clerk for Walls Bargain Center in New Albany.
A Christian, Ms. Cook will be remembered for her creative talents that included hemming and hand sewing every outfit, making draperies from tablecloths that looked professionally designed and wearing "anything sparkly".
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 4PM on today at New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care.
Those left to cherish her memory include her 3 daughters, Carrie Thrasher of New Albany, Ronda Decanter of New Albany, and Elizabeth (Ebby) Tarlton (Steve) of Green Forest, Arkansas, 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a longtime friend that she considered her son, Billy Jernigan of Ashland, her loyal pet canine, "Lulu" and her Amazon Parrot, "Big Bird".
She was also preceded in death by a son, Roney Autry.
