Barbara Joan Lanius Murray, 84, resident of New Albany, departed this life on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Magnolia Place Assisted Living following a brief illness.
Services honoring the life of Mrs. Murray will be private. Arrangements will be provided by the staff of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care.
Mrs. Murray was born on August 7, 1938, in Biloxi and was the daughter of the late Charles Lanius and Mary Maddox Denham. She was a 1956 graduate of Natchez High School where she met her husband in the 8th grade and was a valued dental assistant with Charles Gross Dentistry for over 30 years before retirement.
A Christian, Mrs. Murray found much pleasure in guiding those in ways to spread the word of God to all ages and always found ways to stay active in her children's lives by teaching the importance of family.
Mrs. Murray also enjoyed helping her husband farm on the weekends and tending to her greenhouse.
Those left to cherish memories include her daughter, Bethany Dalton (Jack), her son, Bryant Murray (Melanie) of Natchez, one sister, Faye Kimbro (Steve) of Oklahoma, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a special friend, LaKeshia Fraizer, and a canine companion, Rudy.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Murray, her sister, Laura Eidt, and her stepfather, J.D. Denham.
