Bessie Mae Roberts

Bessie Mae Roberts, 85, lifetime resident of Union County, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, following an extended illness.  Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Roberts will be Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of Moss Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Mitchell Hall and Bro. Kenneth Bishop officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, August 14, 2023, from 5PM until 8PM and Tuesday from 10 until time of service.  Burial will be in the Philadelphia Cemetery in Lafayette County. 

Mrs. Roberts was born April 15, 1938, in Oxford, MS, to the late Beulah May and William Audie Bishop.  She received her education from the Pinedale Public School System in Union County and was employed in the manufacturing industry as a press operator until her retirement. 

A Member of Moss Hill Baptist Church, Mrs. Roberts was known for her feisty personality as well as her love for her family, dogs and church family.  Her favorite past times included traveling to the mountains on her motorcycle, listening to gospel music and coordinating holiday festivities with her family.

Those left to cherish her memories include one daughter, Judy Ransom of Myrtle, four sons, Henry W. Price of Myrtle, Ricky Price (Connie)of Booneville, Douglas Roberts (Leona) of Myrtle, and Richard Roberts (Vicki) of New Albany, fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Price and Susan White, one son, Michael Roberts, and two brothers, John and Frank Bishop.
