Dennis Eugene Hollingsworth, age 68, peacefully departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his home in Pontotoc, Mississippi, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
In honoring his wishes, Mr. Dennis will be cremated, and no public services are scheduled at this time.
Born on September 15, 1957, in Mississippi, Mr. Dennis was the son of the late Freddie and Fannie Lindsey Hollingsworth. He received his education from Randolph High School before spending the majority of his life working as a dedicated long-haul truck driver for both Ashley Furniture and Big M. A hardworking man through and through, he took pride in providing for his family and never shied away from an honest day’s work. He shared a devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Mrs. Tina Graham Hollingsworth, who survives.
A Christian by faith, Mr. Dennis found happiness in life’s simple blessings. Whether he was grilling for family gatherings, tending to the yard, or tinkering with projects around the house, he genuinely loved staying busy. His family often jokingly referred to him as “the best terrible mechanic ever,” a title they all agreed fit him perfectly. Even so, there was very little he wouldn’t attempt to fix, and his determination alone could make anyone smile.
More than anything, Mr. Dennis loved his family deeply. Known for his playful spirit and quick wit, he was always cutting up, teasing someone, or finding a way to make those around him laugh. His grandchildren especially adored him, and being “Papaw” was undoubtedly one of the greatest joys of his life. To them, he was larger than life — a steady presence full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.
Though his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved him, the legacy he leaves behind will continue for generations to come. His humor, hardworking nature, and deep love for family will never be forgotten.
In addition to his loving wife, cherished memories will continue to be shared by his three sons, Joey Hollingsworth, Jeffery Cox, and Christopher Cox and wife, Ashley; one sister, Billie Carruthers; two brothers, Timmy Hollingsworth and wife, Angie, and Jimmy Holley and wife, Susie; six beloved grandchildren, Kaylie, Jaelyn, Sophie, Anne Marie, Jaycie, and Lynlee along with three grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Geoffrey Hollingsworth, and a brother, Tommy Hollingsworth.
New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care invites you to share memories with Mr. Dennis’s family.
