“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:1-2
On Friday May 9, 2025, Mrs. Donna Kay Bullock, age 81, met the promises of her faith, won the victory, and entered into her heavenly home, as she passed away peacefully at New Albany Health and Rehab.
Services celebrating Mrs. Donna’s life will be at 3 PM Wednesday May 14, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care with Bro, Scott Duley officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service on Wednesday May 14, 2025, at New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care.
Born July 5, 1943, in Sedalia, Missouri, Mrs. Donna was the daughter of the late Claib and Dathear Hunt Harlan. She received her education from Sedalia High School, and was faithfully employed by the Pilsbury Baker, working as a dedicated baker for over twenty years, serving the community well. While working countless hours at the bakery, Mrs. Donna always took great pride in being fully committed to her family. She was a faithful wife, along with being a devoted mother to all her children, providing them with the best life possible.
A saved Christian and member of Parks Baptist Church, Mrs. Donna’s devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ always came first and foremost in her life. She devoured his word, prayed over her family constantly, and never lost sight in all of his promises. Mrs. Donna was a fierce lady, who could be just a little bit “sassy” at times, as she held fast to her beliefs, always defending those she loved. Through the years she found much joy traveling various places or going on “adventures”, as she would call them, working on and putting together puzzles, and spoiling her cat, “Sam”, to which she loved dearly.
Mrs. Donna was loved by many and a friend to all, for she embodied a fun loving and free-spirited nature that inspired everyone around her. Although her last few years of life brought her many challenges, she always lived it to its fullest, giving God all the glory for what he had done for her. The legacy she leaves of love and commitment first to Jesus Christ, and also to her loving family and friends, and her “fight the good fight faithfully” philosophy will continue to encourage others for years to come.
Those left to cherish the wonderful memories include four daughters, Margaret Hall, Diane Gresham, Joann Gullick (Jimmy), and Billie Hamblin (Larry), two sons, Johnny Bullock and Bobby Bullock, one brother, Cleon Harlan, twenty-one grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends.
Several loved ones were waiting to welcome her into Heaven including her parents, her husband, Mr. Jay Bullock, her son, Mike Hicks, and her sister, Gayle Duncan.
