Janice Lewis Smith

On Thursday morning January 26, 2023, Janice Lewis Smith, 72, resident of Hickory Flat passed away unexpectedly at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Smith will be at 12 Noon Tuesday, January 31 at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Bro. John Mark Jarrett and Bro. Gary Yates officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Flat Rock Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was born March 4, 1950 in Memphis, TN, the only child of the late Thomas and Connie Taylor Lewis. She received her education in the Memphis Public School System and was employed with various furniture companies in the local area. On November 15, 1979, she married her beloved husband, Dexter Smith who survives.

A member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, Mrs. Smith will be remembered for her love of the outdoors which included working on her 14-acre yard and tending to her beautiful flowers. A "country girl at heart", she had a passion for nature and enjoyed feeding deer, turkeys, birds and all animals.

In addition to her husband of 43 years, loving memories will continue to be shared by two sons, Tommy Ray Smith (Billie Jean) of Falkner and Gary Ray Smith (Jennifer Carter) of Hickory Flat, two granddaughters, Cheyenne Smith and Bobbie Smith and four great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Ray Smith.
