John David Smith Obituary

On Saturday evening, October 5, 2024, John David "Uncle Johnny" Smith, 74, resident of New Albany passed away peacefully at the New Albany Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral Services remembering the life of Mr. Smith will be at 2 PM Tuesday, October 8 in The Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care with Bro. Charles Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 8 from 11 AM until service time at New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care. Burial will follow in Gerizim Cemetery in Myrtle.

Mr. Smith was born December 21, 1949, in Red Banks, MS, the son of the late Jessie and Flora Floyd Smith and received his education in the Myrtle Public School System. A Christian, Mr. Smith will be remembered as an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed farm animals and sharing time with his family and nursing home friends.  Favorite pastimes included, singing, playing Bingo, and story time with "Mary". He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Memories will continue to be shared by two brothers, Jessie Jr. Smith (Barbara) of Myrtle and James Thomas Smith (Rosie) of Hernando, eighteen nieces and nephews and one special friend & caregiver, Nurse D.D. 

He is also preceded in death by four sisters, Jeanette Smith, Betty Kimbrell, Geneva Price and Katherine Cooper, one niece, Diane Campbell and two nephews, Bobby Price and Dewayne Smith.
