Jose Bernave Gardea

On March 29, 2024, Jose Bernave Gardea, 75, resident of New Albany, departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Region One Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

Funeral Mass honoring the life of Mr. Gardea will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care with Father Raja Xavier officiating.  Visitation will be Thursday from 12 Noon until time of service at 2PM.  Burial will follow in Union Nazarene Church Cemetery in Thaxton.

Mr. Gardea was born, January 11, 1949, in Torreon Chihuahua, MX, to the late Piedad Gardea Granados.  He received his education from El Sauz Chih and spent his life as a carpenter and mechanic until his retirement in 2016.  

A Roman Catholic, Mr. Gardea attended regularly St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in New Albany.  After living most of his life in El Sauz Chihuahua, MX with his late wife of 50 years, Martha Alicia Rios Parra, Mr. Gardea moved to the USA in 2019 to spend his life with his family.  

Mr. Gardea was a very intelligent man, who was known to be gifted with his hands, He was very self-sufficient with his work of Concrete, wood, furniture and any type of mechanic work needed to be done.  His family will miss working on numerous projects with him and find comfort in knowing they will see him again one day, especially those that call him "Grandpa".

Those left to cherish his memories include one daughter, Mayra Gardea (Juan Conteras), one son, Sergio Gardea (Sandra Burciaga), one sister, Dolores Gardea, four grandchildren, Carla, Maya, Aaron, and Abraham, four special cousins, Aida, Judy and Charo Gardea.  He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Alicia Rios Parra (2012), his mother Piedad Gardea Granados and one son, Oswaldo Gardea.

El señor Jose Bernave Gardea, residente de New Albany, partió inesperadamente de esta vida el 29 de marzo de 2024, en el Centro Médico Region One en Memphis, TN.

Se llevará a cabo una Misa Fúnebre en honor a la vida del Sr. Gardea el jueves 4 de abril de 2024, en la Capilla de la Memoria de New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care, oficiada por el Padre Raja Xavier.

La visita se realizó el mismo día desde el mediodía hasta la hora del servicio a las 2 PM.

El Sr. Gardea nació el 11 de enero de 1949, en Torreón Chihuahua, México. Recibió su educación en El Sauz Chih y trabajó como carpintero y mecánico hasta su jubilación en 2016.

Como católico romano, asistía regularmente a la Iglesia Católica de San Francisco de Asís en New Albany.

Después de pasar la mayor parte de su vida en El Sauz Chihuahua, México, se mudó a los Estados Unidos en 2019 para estar con su familia.

El Sr. Gardea era conocido por su inteligencia y habilidad con las manos. Era autosuficiente en el trabajo con concreto, madera, muebles y diversas tareas mecánicas.

Su familia extrañará colaborar con él en numerosos proyectos y encuentran consuelo en la creencia de que lo verán nuevamente algún día, especialmente aquellos que lo llaman “Abuelo”.

Los familiares sobrevivientes incluyen a su hija Mayra Gardea (casada con Juan Conteras), su hijo Sergio Gardea (casado con Sandra Burciaga), su hermana Dolores Gardea, cuatro nietos (Carla, Maya, Aaron y Abraham), y cuatro primos especiales (Aida, Judy y Charo Gardea).

Le precedieron en la muerte su esposa Martha Alicia Rios Parra (2012), su madre Piedad Gardea Granados y su hijo Oswaldo Gardea.
