Michael Scott Spotts

Michael Scott “Snake Man” Spotts, 62, resident of New Albany, departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2025, at his residence. In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated. On Saturday October 25, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care, a gathering for family and friends will be from 11 AM until 1 PM, with family and friends welcome to share reflections beginning at 12 Noon.

Mr. Spotts was born on January 30, 1963, in Rahway, New Jersey, the son of Geraldine Koubek Spotts of Oxford, New Jersey, and the late Gerald Spotts.

A familiar face in the New Albany community, Mr. Spotts was affectionately known by many as “Snake Man,” a nickname that reflected his fascination with reptiles and his unique collection of snakes that he once kept as pets. His gentle spirit and deep appreciation for nature often drew curiosity and conversation from those around him.

Beyond his love for animals, Mr. Spotts had a lifelong passion for music. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the drums, finding joy and expression through rhythm and sound. Friends and acquaintances will remember him as a kind and friendly man who was content to live life quietly, keeping mostly to himself yet always greeting others with a smile or a few kind words.

Though his presence will greatly be missed, those who knew him will recall a man with a good heart, a creative soul, and a life lived in his own unique way.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Spotts is survived by a sister Susan DeLisa of Oxford, New Jersey and a brother, Lee Johnson of Memphis, TN.
