Roy Leon Scobey Obituary

Roy Leon Scobey of New Albany, Mississippi, formerly of Lakeland, Tennessee, 85, passed away on October 27, 2022.  Roy was born in Newbern,Tennessee on July 18, 1937.  He served in the United States Army Reserves where he learned drafting.  After serving, he worked as an apprentice and later passed his architectural exam and was still licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi at the time of his death.  He owned and operated his own firm for over 40 years along with his son, Ronald Lane Scobey, prior to his death in June, 2007.  He left a permanent mark on Tennessee with his architectural designs.  
Roy is survived by his two children, a daughter, Suzann Watts (Ken), and a son, Richard Scobey (Heather), a daughter in law, Julie Scobey, seven grandchildren, Parker Scobey (Sophia), Cooper Scobey, Reagan and Lyla Scobey, Zachery and Ryan Watts(Logan) and Lauren Andresini, five great grandchildren, sisters, Dorothalyn Bulgin, Doris Brewer (Robert), brothers, Larry Scobey (Joyce) and Mark Scobey and many nieces and nephews.  He leaves a special friend, Dorothy Miller, who stood by him and helped take care of him for the last several months.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Mac and Derotha Dew Scobey, his wife, Mary Sue Scobey, his son, Ronald Lane Scobey, brothers Billy Jene Scobey, Homer Scobey Jr. and David Scobey and sister Dercia Faye Scobey. 
The funeral service will be held on November 1, 2022 at Eagle Heights Community Church Chapel, 9408 Macon Road, Cordova, Tennessee  38016.  The service will be at 2:00 with visitation at 1:00.  A graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee  38133.
Mr. Scobey loved his friends, family and his Lord and Savior.  He will be missed.
