Walter (Charles) McCarter confessed to Christ at an early age, he went to school in the Public School System.

Walter leaves to cherish his memories, his mom; Lelia McCarter of MS, a daughter; Charlene Williams, 5 grandchildren; Am, Yere, Desmond, Mahogony, De Carlos, De Carla, four sisters; Geraldine Shields of NC, Evonne Jones, Barbara Jean Davis of MI, Ann (James Rice) of MS, three brothers; Willie Shields, Frank Shields, and Bobby Johnson.

Charles was preceded in death by his father; Willie McCarter Sr., sister; Joyce Ann Hubbard, and a brother; Willie McCarter Jr.
