Wanda J. Bishop, 63, resident of New Albany, departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, June 28, 2024, at New Albany Health & Rehab.
Funeral Services honoring the life of Ms. Wanda will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2PM in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11AM until time of service. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery in Plantersville.
Born July 5, 1960, in Aliceville, AL, Ms. Wanda was the daughter of the late Mary Hudson Brooks and G.W. Ruth. She received her education from the Aliceville Public School System and was a homemaker throughout her life.
A Christian and member of Moss Hill Baptist Church, Ms. Wanda was known as a spitfire with an outspoken personality. Her favorite past times included wordsearch puzzles, reading, yard sales, road trips, and keeping her snacks close but her bible even closer. She was adored and loved by many, especially the ones that called her "Nanny".
Those left to cherish her memory include her stepfather, Johnny Brooks of Plantersville, three daughters, Tammy McDonald of Blue Springs, Joy Ruth of Wallerville, and Candace Moody (Michael) of New Albany, four granddaughters, Misty Hogue (Shane), Brianne McDonald, Layla Price and Delilah Roberts, two grandsons, Travis Ruth and Jackson Roberts, five great grandchildren, Parker, Kohen and Ansley Hogue, Blazen and Baylen Hobson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Bishop, two sons, Gil Ross and Travis Bishop, one grandson, Taylor Fonseca.
